Record Store Day, Not Just for Record Stores Anymore

Image

April 16th will be Record Store Day’s ninth birthday. RSD has grown from a small event to a fun holiday that is celebrated by anyone who loves artists that make music. And you can’t say “Spring Holiday” on the south side without a parade breaking out!  While RSD is not quite parade worthy (yet) we are seeing more and more local businesses celebrating the idea of the independent artist, business, and philosophy.

For those of us that were born after 1970 Beverly, Morgan Park, Mt.Greenwood is a step into a world that is not ruled by big box corporations. Instead local residents still open small businesses here, and in-turn, local residents support these businesses with open arms.

Record Store Day and Beverly, Morgan Park, Mt Greenwood share an inherent philosophy that business can still be about supporting your local community. Some local business that are celebrating RSD with us this year include:

  • April 15
Tranquility Hair Salon – 9908 S Walden, Silent Auction for “Almost Home.” Featuring music from Carolina Story
