Mapping Your Record Store Day Route

An overhead view of the Morgan Park Academy on 111th Street

Beverly Records has been a fixture in the Morgan Park neighborhood since 1967 and being proud of our neighborhood we encourage you to spend a few hours checking out all of the sites.

And the best way to truly experience Morgan Park is on a bike. Even if you do not live close by, Metra and the CTA are bike friendly on the weekends so don’t be afraid to oil up that chain on Record Store Day!

If you are using public transportation to get down here with your bike then check out the Rock Island Metra line. This historic train route dates back to the beginnings of railroading and just begs you to look out the window as you ride through the south side and southern suburbs. For the best experience, whether you are coming from the north or south; exit at 119th St and follow our bike path to the shop. After you are done shopping head north to the 107th street to get back on the train.  Schedules can be found here.

This handy map will take you through some of the most interesting parts on the neighborhood.

Traveling south to 118th street and through the St. Walter’s Parish you will notice some of the best examples of post modern architecture in a park setting in the City of Chicago. On your trip home you will find yourself on curvy european style roads complete with century old roundabouts.

Enjoy the history, enjoy the music!

For complete directions on how to get here check out our post from last year.
